1st Annual “Magic City Makeover” Contest

Share Create Reuse and Promote has created an all-city contest for our 2016 major fundraiser, called “Magic City Makeover”. It challenges local individuals and artisans (Makers) with repurposing items into something creative and/or useful, then competing against each other for the top sale in a silent auction.  The contest will operate from June 1, 2016 thru the summer, with the final competition held in an art & craft show outside of our store September 3, 2016 (Labor Day Weekend). Contestant rules and forms will be available on our website by June 7th, 2016.

Strategy:

Makers compete by re-purposing items in three categories.  They may acquire items from participating vendors which may include craft stores, second hand stores, recycle stores, scrap yards, building materials, etc. They will be limited to a dollar amount to purchase items, and the finished products must be 75% or more re-purposed/upcycled.  Items will then be displayed for an open public silent auction.  Prizes will be awarded for top profit made from combined sales and for the top three categories.

To engage the general public in this city-wide event, a treasure hunt will be featured.  Treasure maps will be available at our store and at specified locations beginning of July, then each week 2 or more clues will be revealed on radio spots, ScrapInBillings.com and our Facebook page. Treasure hunters (the public) will need to decipher each clue, then visit the location of the clue to get their map stamped.  Maps can then be brought to the final event for a cash prize drawing.

For those participating as Makers, Vendors, Sponsors, Treasure Hunters (public) and volunteers we look forward to meeting and sharing this event with you.  As an appreciation for your participation, we have something special lined up we will reveal at a later date.
