Corn on the Cob Day-National King Kamehameha Day

Saturday is our family crafting day down here at SCRaP.   Before you get here, get this recipe going:

6 ears corn, silks removed, leave the husks on
1 quart any kind of milk, or even try buttermilk
1 -2 tablespoons sugar
salt and pepper, to taste
1 large bowl or pan that will fit in the frig.
Put milk, sugar, salt and pepper in bowl/pan then stir. Pull the husk back from the corn, but don’t remove it. Remove as much silk as you can, then recover the corn with the husks. Trim the stem down to fit in the bowl/pan. Add the corn to the mixture, refrigerate until you come back from SCRaP.

Barbecue with husks on, toss in the oven, or boil it in the milk mixture – your choice.  Just enjoy it while admiring the things you made with your kids…

To celebrate King Kamehameha Day, we would like to share with you one of Hawaii’s favorite musicians… Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – here is a link to a tune I think you all know and love…
