Join us at the SCRaP Creative Annex this Saturday, April 21, 2018 to see demos from the Yellowstone Woodturners Group. They will be with us from 9 am to 3 pm, with a potluck lunch at Noon. This is an open event, and is kid friendly.
Club Origin/History
Yellowstone Woodturners came into being when Floyd “Creeky” Creekmore and Dan Schindler, after a year of “We otta’s”, declared a meeting on January 19, 2000. Seventeen turners from Billings, Hardin, Laurel, and Park City, Montana, as well as Cody and Powell, Wyoming gathered at the Dude Rancher Coffee Shop in Billings, Montana for “show and tell”, laughter, sharing, meeting other woodturners, and promoting woodturning. Since that original meeting, Yellowstone Woodturners has grown to over 50 members. (from www.Yellowsoneturners.org).
While you are there, tour the Magic City Makerspace where members have access to the woodshop, stained glass cutting, mosaic and pottery areas. Classrooms are available where members can do many types of artsy things from painting, candle making, stained glass, mosaic, furniture refinishing, modeling, photography, sewing, electrical/lighting, wool spinning, silk screening, jewelry making, kite making, musical instrument making, and much more.
The recent addition of some higher tech equipment gives us the opportunity to share electronic and robotic hobbies like 3D printing and CNC projects.
